QUESTOR TASK FORCE
The Questor mission is escorted by the USS Bering, most essentially to combat renegade forces set on sabotaging the mission.
Task force ships are of a completely self-sufficient design capable of independent and indefinite space operation. Their super clean profile follows a concept newly developed by 2066, affording stealth protection as well as fortress style shields against meteoroids and radiation. Solar sails are deployed, which also act as Solar collectors. There are no portholes, antennae, or any other fixtures externally.
USS Bering (CCV-81), Sussex class battle-carrier, with a displacement of 3.32 cubic km and length of 1.8 km. Equipped with meteoroid and radiation protection systems, the ship has a complement of 28 A16 Mamba attack craft armed with proton-beam-impactors, 120 Eurofighter T9 Twister tactical-shape-shift interceptors armed with lasers and cyber-dragnets, 10 B5 Komodo strategic launchers armed with nuclear missiles, and 30 surface-to-space transports. The crew of 6,500 genetically modified (genecrafted) fimans is accommodated in Earth-gravity (EarthG) environments.
Avebury and Lascaux modified cruise liners each with a displacement of 2.77 cubic km and length of 1.5 km, equipped with meteoroid and radiation protection systems. Both have a complement of 25 surface-to-space shuttles and 3 mining biospheres. The crew of 2,000 genetically modified (genecrafted) fimans, with some humans amongst them, is accommodated in Earth-gravity, fully sustainable,'terra-engineered', natural environments, providing Earth-like conditions suitable for indefinite duty in colonising space.
